Ossory Butler's Magical Mystery Tour

After numerous false turns and miles of driving along narrow country lanes, the tour finally found its way to Grove Farm where a very comfortable bed and breakfast awaited. The view from the farmhouse the following morning was outstanding.
Just down the road from Grove Farm was the delightful village of Inistioge which was home to many Butlers including Oz's grandfather who emigrated to Australia apparently under somewhat of a cloud. It seems he may have been overly friendly with a number of young women on the estate and he was sent to Australia to get him out of harm's way. Clearly the plan failed because he fell in love with a Protestant woman and, even though the family sent the parish priest to Australia to try and save his soul, it was not to be and Oz's father was one of the results of this particular liaison.
In the churchyard at Inistioge we came across a plaque erected by a great-uncle, Edward Butler, in memory of his parents, Oz's great grandparents, Thomas and Mary Butler.
And, while exploring the village, we met and conversed with a kind elderly gentlemen who confirmed that the Butler family had in fact run the Woodstock Arms just by the village green for generations. While sipping some Guiness and talking with the barmaid we discovered that the pub had been in the Butler family until only 60 years ago when her husband's family had purchased it.
