This Week's Photos - Penny's Back Fence
Naturally, such a major piece of engineering and construction warranted a fully fledged Opening Ceremony and appropriate celebrations. Greg barbecued lamb burgers and Moroccan chicken, Penny made Amy potatoes and couscous salad and everyone who couldn't think of a suitable excuse was press-ganged into attendance.

The weather was grand, the food was superb, the company was passable (even Pippa and Molly had invited guests) and a splendid time was had by all. |
| Attendance was compulsory. The neighbours came, the in-laws came, and even the drunk who sleeps rough in the bus shelter by the garage came. The Jefferies boys happened to be in the neighbourhood and could come up with no reasonable explanation as to why they couldn't attend and Val came in her Hollywood disguise. Pen spotted that Greg had an empty wine glass and was looking intently at hers. |  |

Ellen assumed responsibility for ensuring that the Chimnea was suitably fuelled throughout the evening (and a splendid job she did, as well). |
| Surprisingly, the usual suspects were first in the line for dessert. |  |

and the detritus on the following morning was ample evidence of the quality of the previous evening's entertainment - no one believed that Greg could consume so much wine and still tap dance on the patio table. |
