          Although she masked
her disappointment wonderfully well, what Penelope really wanted for her
birthday was a quiet dinner in a prohibitively expensive restaurant with
her boys. Nick suggested The Boot in Lapworth and very fine it was too. |

          | Penelope was in
her element enjoying the (almost) exclusive company of her boys. |

          Lucy, as always,
was the life and soul of the party while Nick clearly felt tired and emotional. |

          | A quiet word with
the staff resulted in Penelope's pudding coming appropriately attired
along with a rousing rendition of "Happy Birthday" by the entire
            restaurant. |
