After a whirlwind tour of the thriving metropolis of Byfield, John and Nancy insisted that we join them for an evening in London to celebrate Miles' 50th birthday. No amount of pleading prior engagements or temporary insanity would dissuade them so....

We ended up meeting at the Basil Street Hotel where Miles looked surprisingly fit considering that (a) it was his 50th birthday and (b) he had arrived from LA only a few hours previously. |

Naturally, being the so-called experts, Ms Playchute and Greg were offered the role of tour guides. As you can see, we thought this was a great joke and took huge delight in being able to lead them astray. |
| And although we tried our best to shake them off, they clung to us like a bad smell, including Chris and Linda Moudry, friends of John and Nancy's who had been hoping for a quiet night in. |  |

I think they began to get a bit suspicious when we persuaded them to get off the tube explaining that we had organised an evening's entertainment at the local circus. |
